Advocating for the advancement of engineering is one of the many duties of Bruce Schopp, President of Oates Associates. He continues to promote the engineering community through the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). Bruce has served on the ACEC Illinois board since 2010 and was recently installed as Board Chair.
As Board Chair, Bruce oversees the executive committee, advances business practices, supports committees and collaborates with agency clients. He has long promoted infrastructure funding and has seen it through to fruition with the passage of the $45 million capital bill, which ACEC Illinois has supported for many years.
Bruce, a licensed Professional and Structural Engineer, brings over 35 years of engineering experience and oversees all operations at Oates Associates, including project selection and management, technical production, quality assurance, and staff and client development. He provides guidance for the Transportation and Facilities Group in their strategic visions, and is a technical resource for the firm’s civil and structural engineers.
With over 5,000 member firms nation-wide, ACEC is the voice of the engineering industry. The organization strives to support member firms to advance their practice of consulting engineering, promote the image and effectiveness of ACEC to the public, and maintain a strong governmental affairs program.
