TheĀ four-span steel beam structure over I-44 was deteriorating andĀ became geometrically obsolete. Oates partnered with another consultant to complete the design for the new 206 feet, 2-span prestressed concrete NU girder superstructure. The bridge uses intergral concrete end bents founded on pre-bored steel H-piles and an open round column intermediate bent with a footing founded on rock. The scope of work for Oates Associates included preparing the MoDOT bridge memorandum; preliminary bridge engineering; and final bridge design, plans and specifications.
