S. Clinton Street Bridge
Collinsville, Illinois
- City of Collinsville, Illinois
- $940,000
Built in 1961, the structure carrying S. Clinton Street over Canteen Creek was in poor condition. The bridge had severely eroded, exhibited cracking on joints and along the beam, and lacked pedestrian accommodations. The City of Collinsville engaged Oates Associates to replace the bridge with a new structure to provide safety to the traveling public and allow pedestrian access.
The new structure is a 3-span cast-in-place concrete structural slab bridge. The bridge is wider to accommodate two travel lanes and a sidewalk. Minor channel realignment was necessary to address scour issues. This was accomplished by reshaping the stream channel and providing bank protection.
Oates Associates’ scope of work included right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, survey services, hydraulic analysis, structural design services, and construction observation and testing.
