Eastgate Plaza Park N Ride

Oates Associates has been assisting Madison County Transit (MCT) connect multi-modal commuters by designing new transit hubs in key areas. Upon the successful completion of the Troy Park N Ride transit hub in 2016 – a 180-space parking lot with open-air passenger shelter, sidewalks, signalized pedestrian crossing and 3,000-foot long multi-use trail – Oates was then engaged to complete a similar facility in Alton.

The Eastgate Plaza Park N Ride lot in Alton is connected to Eastgate Plaza, a shopping development that MCT currently serves. The new lot provides dedicated space for commuters, who previously parked in the vast lot of the development. Eastgate Plaza is being overhauled, attracting new tenants and rejuvenating the business district.

The Eastgate Plaza Park N Ride is a 100-space lot with a bus shelter and monument sign similar to the Troy Park N Ride. Work included repaving the entrance to Eastgate Plaza, installing a crosswalk to the shopping center, providing stormwater detention, and planting landscaping with irrigation. The bus shelter includes a mechanical room, driver restroom, bike lockers, and decorative patios.
