Caseyville Elementary School

The Collinsville Community Unit School District #10 identified a need for a modern learning environment to replace the aging Caseyville Elementary School building, originally constructed in 1935. Teaming with the architect and the district, Oates Associates provided engineering and surveying services to evaluate the feasibility of a neighboring site for a new elementary school and library. This study laid the groundwork for the development of new facilities designed to better support educational needs.

The new Caseyville Elementary School is a 38,000 square foot, two-story school building with notable features including larger classrooms and a modern gymnasium/cafeteria for Pre-K to 4th grade students. The library is a 4,700 square foot one-story building – and is a shared partnership between the school and Caseyville Public Library – serving both students and the community. The campus includes playground areas, parking lots, and pick-up and drop-off areas. Our team provided comprehensive civil engineering services involving demolition plans; construction staging plans; site, utility, stormwater, detention, water and sewer main plans; and a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).  A Stormwater Management Report was prepared and coordination with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) was required for permitting.  This project was constructed in phases with the old school building remaining in use for students during construction of the new school building. The project was funded through a combination of local and grant sources, with a cost totaling $19 million.
