SCOTT FIELD HERITAGE AIR PARK
CONSTRUCTION COST: $1,500,000
EXPECTED COMPLETION DATE: 2009
CLIENT: SCOTT FIELD HERITAGE AIR PARK
Air parks across the country serve as a museum for retired aircraft, depicting their history and contributions to the Air Force. Wanting to continue that tradition, Scott Air Force Base broke ground in June 2008 on the Scott Field Heritage Air Park.
The 4-acre air park will display retired aircraft with monuments and memorials to commemorate their history and the accomplishments of Scott Air Force Base. Exhibited aircraft include the C-141 Starlifter, KC-135 Stratotanker, C-9 Nightingale and the C-140 Jetstar, among others.
A proposed visitor center will provide additional information about Scott Air Force Base and the aircraft.
The site is located north of the main entrance to Scott Air Force Base, allowing 24 hour access to the park for civilians.
