Oates Associates: Engineering + Architecture

Constructed in 1966, the University’s Science Building has become out of date and at capacity. As a result, SIU Edwardsville decided to renovate the existing building and construct a new, state-of-the-art Science Building which will neighbor the existing structure. The University wants to furnish superior facilities to attract scholarly staff and students.

The new 136,000 square foot facility will include labs, offices, conference rooms and student study spaces. The structure will be connected to the existing building via a covered walkway. Renovations of the existing building will begin once the new building is constructed. The new building has been designed using green standards- striving for LEED Silver certification.

Oates Associates is providing LEED consulting, site design, utility coordination and construction administration services for the new Science Building.
