The Collinsville Area Recreation District acquired 50 acres of property to develop the new Pleasant Ridge Park. Subsequently, a master plan was produced to guide development of the park. Phase I encompassed a maintenance shed, service entry, service road and a staff parking lot.
Oates provided site design in connection with the maintenance building. The structure is a pre-engineered 8,000 square foot building. Our work included the design of the associated service road, employee parking lot and services to the shed as well as storm water detention design. Site design had to complement an existing house on the site that was converted to district offices.
While with another firm, Barb Anderson assisted with the development of the master plan for the park. The park is designed to respect the natural environment as well as educate the public regarding sustainable design. Barb also provided architectural services for the new maintenance building, a facility that includes vehicle storage, vehicle maintenance, a meeting room and restrooms. The design incorporates several sustainable features related to rainwater harvesting and energy efficiency.
