The Madison County Stormwater Commission was formed in 2007 to work with residents, staff, consultants and the Madison County Board specifically to develop a Master Plan for stormwater management throughout Madison County. The Commission is faced with the challenge of addressing a range of stormwater issues for 725 square miles in two main watersheds, the Mississippi and the Kaskaskia. These issues affect 28 municipalities and 23 townships, and span from large river issues to upland water quality.
Oates Associates is working with Madison County (as a subconsultant to RJN Group) to develop the Master Stormwater Management Plan, a document that will serve as the official plan guiding stormwater management in Madison County. This Plan will provide the information for County and municipal leaders to develop funding options and establish policies to address specific solutions.
For the Plan, Oates is identifying and prioritizing stormwater issues, preparing a watershed report, developing a list of improvements for each watershed area and engaging the public to effectively communicate the problem areas and solutions and educate the local decision makers.
