Pilot Travel Centers, LLC planned to construct a Travel Center in Mt. Vernon, IL. The Center will contain 16 automobile gas pumping stations, 8 diesel pumping stations and a 7,500 square foot building containing a convenience store, restaurant and truck rest area. The development had the potential to impact the operation of the coordinated signals on IL-15, and the Developer requested an access permit on IL-15. Oates Associates evaluated the impact of this development on IL-15 traffic operations and the operation of the new entrance on IL-15. Oates performed a traffic generation study, traffic counts and studied the operational performance of the interconnected signal system using Synchro Software.
