January 2006 - Oates Associates opens St. Louis office

Transportation and municipal engineering firm Oates Associates recently announced the opening of their new office located in the Laclede Gas Building in downtown St. Louis. The firm has a long history of serving state, county and municipal clients from their headquarters in Collinsville, IL. "We felt this office was an important step in our effort to serve similar types of clients on the Missouri side of the Metro-St. Louis region," firm President Dave Oates said.

In addition to the firm's original focus on large transportation planning projects, Oates has developed capabilities in municipal engineering, site planning and design, building structural design and recreation facilities including bicycle trails. The firm boasts of a very low turnover rate among employees who are also very active in a number of professional, charitable and community organizations.

Oates Associates currently employs about 30 people including 14 licensed civil or structural engineers. Notable regional projects in which they've been involved include a $4.5 million water & sewer expansion in Collinsville, most of Madison County's bicycle trail network, a 3-mile section of Governors Parkway in Edwardsville, a section of I-70 as part of the new Mississippi River Bridge project; the extension of the St. Louis MetroLink into St. Clair County, and six miles of I-255 including the interchange with I-270.
