O'FALLON - TROY ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION COST: $4,700,000
EXPECTED COMPLETION DATE: FALL 2009
CLIENT: ST. CLAIR COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ROADS AND BRIDGES

O’Fallon-Troy Road is located on the north side of the rapidly growing City of O’Fallon, Illinois. The land is a mix of residential and rural, which has had tremendous residential development, increasing traffic on the road. To improve safety for area motorists, the road will be reconstructed.

The pavement surface of the road is in poor condition, too narrow, and has sight distance and other safety problems. The oil and chip pavement is not a practical roadway for its future traffic use. St. Clair County hired Oates Associates to provide Intersection Design Studies, Project Development Report, Right of Way Plats, roadway, drainage and intersection design, and final construction plans.

The reconstruction begins just south of the intersection of Bethel School Road and ends at the intersection of Scott-Troy Road. A new 24-foot wide road will be constructed with concrete pavement and asphalt shoulders. Left turn lanes will be included at the intersections of Bethel School Road and North Seven Hills / Weil Road. A severe bend in the road decreases visibility and affects the overall safety of motorists entering and exiting at the intersection of Bowler Road. Reconstructing the curve and relocating the intersection will improve site distance.

The drainage system will consist of new roadside ditches in combination with storm sewer.
