I-255 / MOUSETTE LANE INTERCHANGE
CONSTRUCTION COST: $3,800,000
COMPLETION DATE: 1992
CLIENT: ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

The addition of a diamond interchange to a major interstate highway in order to support Parks Airport and related new commercial development in the area.

Topographic and property surveys were performed by in-house staff using electronic data collection equipment integrated with our CADD system. Right of way plans were also prepared.

Work included the geometric design of the four new diamond ramps and the realignment of a frontage road and Mousette Lane.

Tapers for ramp terminals on I-255 required widening of the twin I-255 bridge over a railroad. The complex framing plan for this bridge involved a 220 foot long, 2 span splayed plate girder widening.

Drainage considerations required multiple crossings of a major drainage canal and design of replacement wetlands.
